While writing and illustrating my graphic memoir, I realized something. All of these terms the medical community has for the myriad unresolved gastrointestinal problems presented an image to me of a large umbrella. Because these terms are all categories of problems and unresolved suffering, and as of yet, very little resolution to these problems is out there. There are so many issues…not just one. So when someone says IBS, it could be a few or more of these issues happening at once.
